Overview
What it is for
A rope solo device has to sit in the right place on your chest. Too low and the rope angle fights you; too high and it is in your face on steep ground. The chest harness exists to hold that position without your shoulders doing the work.
What changed
The redesign went after the two complaints people actually had:
Weight. It is lighter than the version it replaces, largely through the buckles. These are PETG plastic — strong enough to keep El Mudo where it belongs, without carrying steel around for strength that is not needed. This is not a work harness; nothing here is arresting a fall.
Setup. You no longer adjust the height every time you put it on. Set it once to your torso and it stays set. On a route where you are already managing rope, rack and a solo system alone, that is one fewer thing asking for attention.

Front and back attachment buckles, and full adjustment across sizes. One size covers everyone.
Be clear about what it is not
It carries no safety certification, because it is not a safety device. It is a comfortable strap for positioning your device. Your protection comes from your sit harness and the rope solo system it feeds.

Why plastic buckles?
Because this harness positions a device, it does not arrest a fall. Steel buckles would add weight for strength nothing here needs. PETG is strong enough for the load and noticeably lighter.
Do I need one to use El Mudo?
Not strictly, but without one you carry the device's position on your shoulders and re-fettle it constantly. Most people who solo regularly end up wanting one.
